We have, however, met children who try to keep themselves safe from failing - having tried so many times and failed so many times that they dare not try again - children who believe they are the problem and have given up.
WE HAVE NEVER MET A CHILD WHO DID NOT WANT TO SUCCEED
Learning is like a building. A missing or mislaid stone would affect stones close by as well as successive layers. Learning skills are like these stones. We view challenges in learning or behavior as the result of these lagging skills.
Our methods differ from traditional remedial work which will typically address school based skills. We examine the underlying reasons why the child experiences these challenges. To arrive at an answer we view learning as a whole body experience.
The body functions through a complex interaction of many systems including the central nervous, visual and auditory systems and thinking. Addressing challenges at only one level seldom results in overall or lasting success. We provide tailored interventions based on thorough and ongoing assessment leading to independence.
We believe in parents and teachers as we believe in children. Parents and teachers are important contributors to the assessment and intervention process. Both are a significant part of the team around the child. We see your observations and contribution as invaluable to your child’s intervention.
